About Deb, an Experienced Adelaide Marriage Celebrant
Hi I’m Deb.
Mum and step-Mum to grown-up human babies and fur babies, and wife to Bert.
I trained as a Celebrant in 2014 after deciding I needed a creative outlet for my flair for organisation and attention to detail.
I am professionally trained and legally authorised by Australian Commonwealth Law to solemnise marriages anywhere in Australia and its Territories, and to date I have married over 500 amazing couples.
Originally from Essex in the East of England, I now call Maslin Beach in South Australia home. I bring a unique blend of English charm and down-to-earth Aussie heart to every ceremony I create.
I love a cold beer or an amazing local McLaren Vale red. But quite honestly, my drink of choice is a simple cup of English Breakfast tea.
When I’m not marrying loved-up couples, I am down the beach paddle-boarding or swimming, or finding new trails in beautiful scenic places with Bert, maybe with our collective kids and a furry friend or two.
We love to travel in our camper ‘Billie Bus’. With Bert in tow, I am always up for a roadtrip to somewhere remote to marry couples. So far, I have been lucky enough to conduct multiple ceremonies in Kangaroo Island, Flinders Ranges, and Cooper Pedy. I have the best job I can imagine!
I am also a film fanatic, avid reader, and a secret geek. I grew up on a screen diet of Star Wars, Dr. Who, and all things Si-Fi (Thanks Dad) and I love the opportunity to let out my inner geek in wedding ceremonies.
Theme weddings are so much fun.
I am also able to conduct any type of ‘non-legal’ ceremony you wish for. Whether you’re planning a legal wedding, a non-legally binding celebration, a naming day, or something else, I’m here to help you design a ceremony that’s personal, relaxed, and completely you. Every detail matters and I promise that you will be in safe, organised, and very experienced hands.

I am fiercely inclusive, and strongly believe that marriage is for everyone, and that it should be shaped however suits them.
I abide strictly to the Code of Practice for Celebrants and am a member of many professional bodies including the AFCC – The Australian Federation Of Civil Celebrants (www.afcc.com.au).
I am a confident public speaker, and I have a clear voice with or without a microphone.

I am a vibrant, fun-loving, 50-something Gemini, with an amazing dress and shoe collection! I have a soft spot in my heart for anything vintage, retro or slightly left of centre, from the 20’s flapper days to 50’s rock-and-roll, from Viking days to 1800’s.
I’ll happily wear anything from my extensive collection of dresses and dress-up’s for any occasion, but especially when it fits into the look of a Wedding!

In the community
Community spirit is really important to me, and I am on three local volunteer committees.
I am also a qualified South Australian JP, and love being involved in my local community as a Compassionate Community advocate, as an MC at fundraisers, or an extra pair of hands helping out or sponsoring local events.
I love that being self-employed allows me to dedicate time to my local community.
As an established and experienced Celebrant, I also mentor and assist new Celebrants to find their feet. I run yearly workshops or one-on-one sessions on a variety of topics such as online documentation, Ceremony Rituals, and inclusive practices.
