Hi There lovers, and welcome to my site!
Here you can find out about me and why I love being a Celebrant, you can delve in and see if I'm the perfect Celebrant for you, and you can find out a little about what I get up to when I'm not being a Celebrant.
My motto is
‘Your wedding, Your way, My passion’
as I feel that reflects my commitment to your very special and unique day.
I am flexible, but super organized, and I love to guide couples to find exactly what they want for a ceremony.
It would be my pleasure to work creatively with you to deliver your perfect ceremony to begin your incredible wedding day with the pop of pizzaz it deserves.
I see it as my job to put your dreams into action, to make your vision a reality.
I am a confident public speaker and have a clear voice with or without a microphone.
I wholeheartedly support marriage equality for all couples, regardless of religion, race or gender.
I love to create, and ritual is my a-game... NO rules, no must DOs (except the legal parts obviously)
I create ceremonies that suit my couples and their way of doing things... From 0 to 200 hundred guests, and anything in between.
Who is Deb the Celebrant?
My name is Deborah Lilley and I am a qualified Civil Marriage Celebrant. I qualified in 2014 after deciding I needed a creative outlet for my flair for organisation and attention to detail. I am originally from Essex in the East of England, but moved to South Australia with my family in 2006.
I am professionally trained and legally authorised by Australian Commonwealth Law to solemnise marriages anywhere in Australia and its Territories. I am also able to conduct any type of ‘non-legal’ ceremony you wish for. I am fiercely inclusive, and strongly believe that marriage is for all.
I abide strictly to the Code of Practice for Celebrants and am a member of many professional bodies including AMC – Australian Marriage Celebrants (https://marriagecelebrants.org.au/) and AFCC – The Australian Federation Of Civil Celebrants (www.afcc.com.au)
In the community
My comunity is important to me and I am active in my local area.
I am a JP, as well as being a volunteer for various community and charity events. I will happily put my hand up to sponsor local events, and love to MC fundraisers.
I am also a fully Gilwell woggled and Wood Beaded Scout Leader in the Scouting Association of Australia. As such it is my dream to marry a couple in full scout uniform (one day I am sure!)
I am a vibrant, fun-loving, 40 something Gemini, who is growing old disgracefully with crazy coloured hair and an amazing dress and shoe collection! As you can tell I am a young at heart person but I have a soft spot in my heart for anything vintage, from the 20’s flapper days to 50’s rock-and-roll.
I’ll happily wear anything from my extensive retro dress collection for any occasion, but especially when it fits into the look of a Wedding! Do you want a Celebrant whos comfortable to dress up? Then I’m your girl!
My hair has not been a ‘normal’ colour for over ten years (the grey genes are strong in my family) and I embrace all the colours of the rainbow.
I am also a film fanatic and a secret geek. I grew up on a screen diet of Star Wars, Dr. Who, and all things Si-Fi (Thanks Dad) and I love the opportunity to let out my inner geek in Wedding ceremonies.
My favourite things? Well apart from my human and fur family, in no particular order – music, boysenberry ice-cream, red wine, a cool crisp cider, good chocolate, and a fantastic action movie rock my world!!!
When I’m not marrying loved up couples,
I am down the beach paddleboarding or swimming, or finding new trails in beautiful scenic places with my partner Bert, usually with a various collection of our collective kids and my two dogs Morris and Theo.
Or cuddled up on the sofa (or a Gold class movie seat) eating Maltesers and binge-watching action or Si-Fi movies.
