Your Wedding, Your Way!
My business, My rules!

Kickass Boss = Amazing Marriage Celebrant

I love being my own boss for lots of reasons. Being a full-time Celebrant and working from home a lot has lots of personal advantages, like cups of tea on tap, my office staff are quiet even if they leave hair everywhere, and the lunches are free.

But near the top of the list is that it means I can be a rebel rule breaker sometimes. Being my own boss means I make my own work rules, and that means that I get to choose when those rules can be bent or broken.

Now don’t get me wrong, I know it’s important to have rules and guidelines, especially in business! To become a successful Celebrant I also had to be a savvy businesswoman, and creating rules, strategies, and guidelines for my business was all part of the journey. It is an ever-evolving strategy.

Legals Only Marriages

Part of my MarriedInMaslin Elopement strategy is offering #legalsonly ceremonies from my home office here in Maslin Beach (Click here to see where that is and see our amazing beaches)

These marriages are conducted in my home office, on weekdays, and with only two witnesses (often my partner and my friend)

They really are what they say on the box…. Two quick meetings of less than half an hour… I say the MONITUM (that’s the legal words a Celebrant has to say to marry a couple) The couple says their legal vows and exchange rings if they want to, and five people sign the relevant documents. And then they leave. No-fuss, no-frills, functional and practical.

Rule Breaker

Towards the end of 2020, I was contacted by a beautiful local couple who really wanted to get married in their back garden… No fuss, family only, kids and grandkids, you get the idea.

They had found me by walking past my car on the way to their son’s house, so we are talking about real local families here. But they are both retired and money is tight, so they chose to marry in my office instead to save money.

After listening to them talk a while I happily agreed to break my own rules, and late in 2020 I wandered around the corner to their house two streets from mine and married them in their version of a dream wedding. Short and simple, but in their garden with their family watching on.

They were so appreciative of the little adjustment from my office to their home, and I was more than happy to help. My job is the best when something so small can give so much pleasure.

Do it Your Way

So my question at the end of this self-confessed pat on the back, is what can I do to make YOUR DAY perfect?

Some of the most personal adjustments to ceremonies are so small that others wouldn’t even notice them. Other things, guests will notice but not understand the significance. That doesn’t matter, as your day is all about you two and what is important to you doesn’t always need to be shouted from the rooftops. And as much as you want your guests to enjoy your day, it is not about them!

Maybe I can light a candle or say a phrase to remember a loved one?
Maybe a time of day or a particular location is important to you as a couple?
Maybe it is that you don’t want to walk down the aisle, or you are walking down together?
Maybe it is that you cant choose your witnesses because you have too many to choose from, and on the day we do a lottery to find two ‘Witness Winners’

Whatever it is, I love all the quirks and ideas that my couples bring to their ceremony planning. For me, that is what it is all about – creating your dream ceremony, from your ideas. I am simply the glue that binds it all together, and then I add my unique personality sparkle to deliver your ceremony in a fun and upbeat way on your Wedding Day.

Let’s do this!!
